Buying a Designer Watch
Unsurprisingly, most people would want to have a watch so that they will be able to keep time. For some, it is also an important fashion accessory - so when they come to buy a designer watch it is important that they choose the right one. Here are a few top tips which could help you to choose the right watch.
1) Whether you are looking to buy a mens designer watch or a ladies designer watch it is important to set a budget.Once you have set yourself an affordable price limit you can start to eliminate options that are unrealistic.
2) Have you thought to what you will be using your watch for? Apart from keeping good time, have you decided whether you will be looking to buy a designer watch that is more suitable for everyday or formal wear?
3) When you have made a decision on the type of style, you need to choose which movement you require. This refers to inner workings, of which there are three types: quartz, mechanical and digital.A quartz watch uses a small vibrating crystal inside - these are highly accurate.Mechanical watches rely entirely on springs and gears - these are quite expensive and not as accurate. The digital watch is battery powered and cheaper, although considered a more casual style of watch.
4) Make sure you get an appropriately sized watch face. A regular size face on a large man may look like a ladies watch. Also, you must look for quality construction of the bezel (which should be polished) as well as the case.
5) Do you know if the watch is watch water resistant or waterproof?Water resistant means that the watch is okay when splashed with water, whereas waterproof watches will be rated by depth.
6) Look at the crystal - this is the clear covering of the watch face.Plexiglass is the cheapest, however it scratches fairly easily but is very difficult to shatter. Mineral crystal is more expensive and more likely to shatter but less likely to get scratched. Synthetic sapphire is most expensive and almost scratch proof but is easy to shatter.
7) The strap material can be metal, cloth or plastic. This is a personal choice but do make sure that your choice is based on comfort especially if you are likely to use it for more active outdoor pursuits.
